An SG Discount Card gives students something tangible they can use all year, maybe even every day. Every time they pull the card out of their wallet, purse, or backpack, they're reminded of your SG. Every time they show it at a participating business, they save money. And every time they save, they know your SG made it happen. Start Your Card

Why Does ASGA Rank It #1?
Over 10% of all SGs nationwide run a discount card. A great signature program (a real service your SG is known for) saves students money or makes students money. This one saves them money, again and again all year.

They're already paying big bucks. Help them get dollars back.

Almost every student pays a student activity fee, from $2 per credit hour to $1,600 per student, even if they never set foot at a game, event, or club meeting. If they use the discount card frequently, they could save hundreds.

Do They Know SG Did It?

If most of campus is clueless, your SG is big-time missing out on the major perk: awareness of your SG.

  • Your SG name & logo must be huge on the card
  • Hand out the card personally
  • Post participating businesses on your SG Website (and keep it current)
Even Your SG Can Do This. 5 SG Members times 3 Businesses equals 15 Potential Discounts. 10 SG Members times 3 Businesses equals 30 Potential Discounts. 9 out of 10 Businesses Say Yes.

Ask every SG member to talk to at least three businesses.

Nine out of 10 businesses say yes. You bring them potential customers. They give a discount. Win-win.

Start small. Add more as you go. You don't need 50 businesses before launch. Maybe you have 10. That's OK. Keep adding more.

You Can Do It This Semester

Your card could be up and running in two months or less.

Your main cost isn't money (the cards are super cheap). It's the time your officers and members put in identifying businesses, making appointments, and meeting with managers.

Follow your institution's rules, work through the appropriate approval and legal processes, and get the contracts signed. Create the card, give it out everywhere you go, and keep the participating-business list current on your SG Website.

The actual card will cost almost nothing.

$30 or less to print 250 cards. Not much more for thousands. They're pretty much ordinary business cards.

You can add more marketing later:

  • Window stickers that say SG DISCOUNT CARD ACCEPTED HERE.
  • Counter displays at participating businesses.
  • Signs & card holders in high-traffic campus buildings
  • "Have you gotten the discount card?" yard signs around campus
