Advisors, Relations WithThe SGA maintains a positive and productive relationship with its Advisor. Both the SGA President and Business Manager maintain weekly appointments with the Advisor to review operational and financial progress, respectivel y. Additionally, the Advisor attends the weekly Execuctive Board meetings to review the performance and productivity of the SGA's internal operations and to advise/guide the officers on next steps. The Advisor also attends all of the SGA's signature events including the annual Leadership Conference, semestral Town Hall meetings, and other SGA-sponsored events. The Advisor attends and assists with all SGA retreats and transition/training programs.
Administrators, Relations With
The SGA at Saint Francis University enjoys a positive and productive relationship with the senior administration and the university's Faculty Senate. This was highlighted in the University's most recent re-accreditation through the Middle States Commission. The SGA President maintains a monthly standing appointment with the Vice President for Student Development to discuss large-scale projects and concerns and the two of them meet with the University President one to two times per semester. Additionally, the SGA Executive Board presents to the senior-level administration usually one to two times per year their major accomplishments and an update on their strategic plan. Further, the SGA President and Executive Vice President attend all Faculty Senate meetings and are invited to present an update at every other Faculty Senate meeting. Finally, all student-Senators sit on Faculty Senate committees and maintain voting privileges in all committees.
Fiscal Responsibility
SGA is very good at maintaining fiscal responsibility over its annual allocation from the University and the management of how those resources are used. The SGA Business Manager reviews, approves, and records all club/organization spending and fundraising and reconciles all records on a monthly basis with the university's central Business Office. The SGA completes an annual financial audit using an independent, third-party accounting firm and presents their full audit report to the Business Office.
Student/Constituents, Representing WellThe SGA needs to improve in maintaining consistent communications with their constituents. Although structurally the SGA is well designed to provide adequate representation to all undergraduate students on campus, in practice many Senators fall short of expectations.
Group Management, Team-Building
The SGA gets so focused on its day-to-day and week-to-week business and is incredibly productive but at times we could be more effective if we could establish better rapport and sense of team among the Senators.
Mentoring
The SGA's Executive Board members are really the only ones who benefit from the transition period between administrations, however, little opportunity is currently available for the Senators to receive adequate training and mentoring.
