Bakersfield College/Bakersfield (BC) - SGA Student Reference Desk

Description:The Student Government of Bakersfield College has compiled the following information to assist Bakersfield College students. If you have a question that is not answered by the information provided on this site, contact us with your inquiry and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Student Identification Cards (Gades Card)
Bakersfield College provides student identification cards free of cost in Campus Center 4 to students who are enrolled for that particular term. The Gades card allows you to check out books and print documents from the Computer Commons in the lower level of the Grace Van Dyke Bird Library.

Student E-Mail Accounts and Computer Use
Each student enrolled at Bakersfield College can visit the help desk at the lower level Computer Commons to activate their account.

The Computer Commons are available for student use while the Grace Van Dyke Bird Library is open. Because of the high volume of students in need of a computer, it is asked that students refrain from using the computers for non-educational purposes. If you are caught doing so while a student is in need of a computer, you will be asked to yield that computer.

Student Parking
Designated student parking requires either a daily parking pass available at one of the kiosks or a semester long parking sticker that you can purchase online at The Permit Store.

Free parking is allowed along Panorama Drive (north side of campus), along Mt. Vernon Avenue (east side of campus), along University Avenue (south side of campus), and along Haley Street (west side of campus). Parking in these areas are at your own risk and traffic rules and regulations will be strictly enforced by campus police and security.

Clubs/Department Requests for Funds
Any Bakersfield College Club and Department can request funds from the Student Government Association. Prior to requesting funds, please refer to Protocol A (Clubs) or Protocol B (Departments).

Using the Billboards
All students are permitted to use the billboards located on various locations of the campus. Prior to posting, all items need to be approved and stamped from the Activities Office in Campus Center 4. Failure to do so will result in removal of those items from the billboard. Please refer to the Publicity Code when posting as it will be strictly enforced by the Student Government Secretary, campus janitors, and campus security.
