FAQs

Does ASGA lobby nationally or statewide?

Q:Does ASGA lobby on a national or statewide basis on important student-related issues?

A:No. ASGA does not lobby and will not take positions on issues.

It is ASGA’s contention that before Student Governments can efficiently and effectively lobby on issues beyond their individual campuses, they first must be effective and influential at their own institutions, with their own constituents, and with their own administrators.

ASGA desires for its members to first focus their limited time, resources, and energy on improving and enhancing their local campus organizations. Once they're respected and influential locally, they then can work on broader issues and causes statewide and/or nationally.

As a matter of principle, therefore, ASGA will not be an advocate or champion of specific issues or causes.
