6. Percentage of Women Serving in Collegiate Student Governments Nationwide
Methodology: ASGA gathers information on officers and members of college and university student governments at every institution in the United States and in some other countries as well. ASGA employs five full-time in-house researchers who spend upwards of 13,000 hours a year gathering and maintaining the data stored in ASGA’s  “SG Database” at www.asgaonline.com.  ASGA has been gathering this information since it was founded in 2003.

The data covers the following 14 school years: 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17. The data is progressively becoming deeper and more thorough as ASGA enhances its information-gathering methods, which include scouring individual student government web sites, college and university web sites, student newspapers, social networking sites such as Facebook, local and national media web sites, Google Alerts, and surveys submitted by ASGA members at 1,066 institutions.
