  1. Can you give us ideas on how to improve our food service on campus?
Summary: Our student senators are researching information about different Dining Hall services. Our student body has been dissatisfied with the variety of the food, the lack of healthy choices, and even food-service personnel attitudes.

We will be building a new student center starting next May and if neccessary we may be contracted a different company, but only if our student senators do their research. Could you give us some information or guide us with our research?

  3. Do any private colleges have a "student legal services" program sponsored by SGA?
Summary: Our SGA is interested potentially providing students with a local attorney who would be on campus weekly for a few hours to provide limited legal consultation (predominately letting students know if they need a lawyer for university citations, and minor offensives).

In investigating this process, I am wondering if you know of any small private schools that offer this program to students. We would like to take a look at the contract they use and the process they follow.

  4. Do any schools offer a textbook library? (1 of 3 answers)
Summary: Johnson & Wales University Providence SGA recently passed a resolution asking the university to look into creating an Academic Reference Section (ARS). This ARS would contain at least one copy of every required text book for each academic class. I wanted to know how ASGA could help us found out what other SG's have this type of similar type of system in place at their school.

  7. How can our SGA get Redbox or Blockbuster Express on our campus?
Summary: SGAs at our university have been looking into getting a Redbox or Blockbuster Express for over three years now with now luck. We recently contacted both companies and were not selected, again. We are a small, private university in Maryland. I was wondering if you know of any tactics to recommend or can put us in contact with similar schools that have ascertained a kiosk for their campus, even though an independent company such as DVD Now. I look forward to your response!

  8. How do we set up a countywide recycling center on campus? (1 of 2 answers)
Summary: Each year our Student Government president must submit a "top 10" list. The number one thing that is on my list is to incoporate a countywide recyling center on our school's campus. In order for the top 10 list to work I have to draw up a proposal to submit to the college president. I have looked everywhere for info and this is my last resort. I really want this to be a success. Can you help?

  11. How do we stimulate student interest in SG?
Summary: At Indiana University-Purdue University/Ft. Wayne (IPFW), we work with a generous student services budget, which we distribute to over 100 special interest groups. We work with faculty and staff on collaborative events that attract more that 4,000+ people. However, we are in the transition of moving from a commuter campus to some residential/student housing. If there are any Student Governments that could provide some insight into how they have stimulated student interest on campus with an event, that would be my point of departure for posting my question.

  12. Know of any student course advisement programs?
Summary: Problems with advising have long plagued our students, so through our resources at Student Government at the University of South Florida, we hope to implement a new program to help. We would like to introduce a peer advising program, where students seeking recommendations on which course to take, when to take it, who to take it with, what other courses to combine it with, etc. can be advised. As part of our preliminary research, we would like to "Ask the Experts" if they know of any such programs around the country as well as for their suggestions concerning our endeavor. Thank you for your time and assistance.

  14. Should we have a separate SG Discount Card or use our Student ID?
Summary: I am planing to start a discount program at Oklahoma City University. Our school is a small school, 3,000 students. I am considering whether to have a separate discount card or use Student ID. I am leaning towards Student ID, because we have a StarsCash program, which is run by University's administration. This program allows to load cash on Student ID and use it on campus or at a few participating locations off campus. Discount program should work as the first step before business wants to adopt Stars Cash. Do you have any good advice for this?

  15. Where do we get the videos to stock our video rental service sponsored by SGA?
Summary: We are trying to create a signature program to improve the student experience on campus. After surveying the student body we decided to create a movie rental service. We have almost all the elements in place to make kick the program off and the cooperartion and support from the administraion, just not the movies. After researching other campus rental policies and (their respective sites), I have questions regarding how the movies are obtained. The SGA has considered using a source such as Amazon, but I'm worried about the legal ramifications. The policy states that Amazon's product may not be redistributed commerically, they are intended for home use. The program would be free to the students (only charging late fees and for damaged goods). If other schools use a source such as Amazon, how do they manage to do so? Another alternative would be to use Redbox, are more and more schools using this service? Thanks for any and all help!
