Candidate Recruiting Description:
Section I – Requirements for candidacy
To be considered for a position on the ballot, students must meet the following criteria:

A. Candidates must have submitted a signed Election Application Form before the deadline imposed by Student Life. 
B. Candidates must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with Texas State Technical College as required by the Student Life Office. Candidates must maintain such standing throughout elections as well as their terms.
C. Candidates must attend the Mandatory Candidate Meetings.
D. A student must be registered for at least six (6) hours, and have at least a 2.5 GPA with TSTC Harlingen in order to file for and campaign for elective office.
E.  Candidates filing for office must be active with Student Life or Student Government Association the semester prior to running for office.
F.  All members must be able to attend scheduled Student Government Association meetings and events, unless discussed with advisor prior to the meeting or event.
G. All elected and/ or appointed officers must be able to fulfill the responsibilities of the office, for which they are running.

American Student Government Association  

The American Student Government Association will provide all Student Government leaders and advisors nationwide with networking, research, and information resources and will teach them how to become more effective, ethical, and influential leaders on their campuses. ASGA also will promote the advancement of SGs, conduct research as the nation’s only “SG Think Tank,” and advocate the importance of having a vibrant, autonomous Student Government organization at every institution in America.
