Signature Program Category: Campus transportation, Leadership courses, Campus traditions, Campus traditions
Signature Program Details:
Signature Program #1: Campus transportation
Bus Pass Scholarship program. After EOPS eliminated free bus passes for qualified students the ASU initiated the Bus Pass Scholarship program and award monthly bus passes to qualified students. Criteria: 2.0 GPA, 6 unit min per semester, live at least 2 miles from campus, receive fee waiver, EOPS, CalWorks, or DSPS.

Signature Program #2: Leadership courses
All students involved in student government, student clubs, or are just interested in student leadership attend 2 retreats per year designed especially for their specific group. Training includes parliamentary procedure, meeting management, event planning, team building, and leadership development. These day long retreats allow us to provide infromation and clarify rules and procedures to everyone at one time at the beginning of each semester.

Signature Program #3: Campus traditions
Each semester we are offering a "State of the ASU" address. Modeled after the State of the State address, this event allows the ASU President to speak on the issues that the students are working on, explain long term and short term goals, provide information on upcoming or proposed events. Select college administration, management, faculty and classified staff are invited as well as the campus newspaper. Breakfast is served and any new senators are sworn in at the event.
American Student Government Association

The American Student Government Association will provide all Student Government leaders and advisors nationwide with networking, research, and information resources and will teach them how to become more effective, ethical, and influential leaders on their campuses. ASGA also will promote the advancement of SGs, conduct research as the nation’s only “SG Think Tank,” and advocate the importance of having a vibrant, autonomous Student Government organization at every institution in America.
