Hi! I’m Jen Thomas, Office Coordinator for the SGA. I am originally from Northern California (SF Bay Area and Sacramento), but moved to the Daytona area in August, 2013 with my husband and our (then) 5-month-old son. Though a large part of us will always be Californian, we LOVE Florida!
My educational background is in organizational behavior, higher education management, and American Sign Language interpreting, which I did professionally in a vocational-technical school setting for almost a decade. I will be adding a BS from ERAU Worldwide in the near future (Technical Management – Occupational Safety and Health), so I guess I’m a bit of an education junkie.
My role within the SGA is to keep the office running by reconciling the budget, doing ordering and purchasing for the SGA branches/divisions, supervising the student assistant staff, and pretty much doing whatever I can to help the SGA officials be as effective as possible for the greater student body. Working with ERAU students on a daily basis keeps me on my toes, inspires me, and brings me great professional satisfaction—I love serving the students of this institution!
When I’m not at work, I am in full blown “Mommy Mode” to our (now) three-and-a-half-year-old son. He’s the light of my life and I’ve always got a photo, a story, or both to share, if you’re into that sort of thing. As a family, we spend time at the beach, ride bikes, go camping, play with our dog Colby Jack, play with airplanes, dinosaurs, and superhero figures, and watch Disney movies. My husband is a full-time, stay-at-home dad, a classically trained chef, and an aspiring magician. If you ever see him in the office, he’ll happily dazzle you with a card or coin trick!
