Message from Leah Crane:
My name is Leah Crane. I returned to college 10 years after being out of high school, due to a back injury that has left me disabled. I am majoring in Education and would like to become an Elementary School Teacher. My husband and I both attend college at Bakersfield College.

I have been serving with the Student Government at Bakersfield College since January 2006. I now serve on the Executive Board as the Vice President. Last year, I served as the General Counsel on the Executive Board. I have also taken part in many other co-curricular activities. Some of these activities include being the co-chair of the Activities Board, a member of the Communications Committee, co-chair for the Spring Fling planning committee, co-chair of Bakersfield College’s Relay for Life team, the student liaison for the Academic Senate, co-chair for the Legislative Affairs Committee, and much, much more. I have volunteered for the Alumni Association, I helped collect children’s books for the Chamber of Commerce’s Children’s Center in the courthouse, and have volunteered for the Middle Grade Leadership Conference. I am constantly looking for things I can help with, because I love to volunteer my time.

In May of this year, I was recognized as Freshman of the Year at the Move to the Hill dinner; I received the Leadership Award through the Student Government Association, and was presented with the Award of Honor also through the Student Government Association.

My goals are simple really. I want to do for the students. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to stop in and let the Student Government know.
